Where was God on 9/11?

In the Faithology Forum, the question was asked, "where was God on 9/11?

Here's my response:

Take a good look at the image to the right. This is an artist depiction of God. Notice the somewhat darker hue than the historical picture of God, possibly done so to reflect the diversity in our world.

Of course we know that's not God, right? We know God is not a man, right? God is not a woman, right?

You were given this universe to make of it what you will, not to do what God or the Universe wants you to do. The only meaning to life is the meaning you give to life. The only meaning to any God you believe in is the meaning you give to that particular God.

God had nothing to do with 9/11. What occurred on Sept 11, 2001 was all man's doing, just like with Hiroshima, The Slave Trade, The Holocaust, all created by man. 9/11 was just another form of mass manipulation. Create a terrorist threat (by taking down the towers), defeat the enemy; the big bad terrorist. However, if you research 9/11 and stop going by the "official story," you will clearly see that it was just a ploy to get a foothold in Iraq; in the oil-rich Middle East. What other reason do you have for the fact that we're still there, 11 years after the fact?

Manipulation is something that all of nature does; flowers do it, trees do it, bugs do it, most creatures on earth utilize manipulation in some form or fashion, except the human being uses it for the purposes of greed and control. But another fact of nature and the universe is, "evil carries the seed of its own destruction."

We really need to get away from this archaic, simplistic belief that God is a bearded white man who sits at the top of the universe watching citizens of the world make utter fools of themselves.

God, or the Divine Light, is the sum total of all of us, and everything that's ever been. It's not an individual who waits to punish or reward us after physical death. When you analyze and review your past life on earth, it's your higher self that will be the most critical of you, but even then, there's no punishment involved, because it's all about growth and evolution.

The majority of us are following and adhering to the stories we've been told since childhood. These are the stories your mom and dad were told, great-grandmom, great-great, and great-great-great relatives were told the same stories.

As a human species we have evolved in the field of science, biology, sociology, technology, geography, geology, physiology, space, the universe, the cosmos, and in various other areas.

Why can't we evolve with our religious and spiritual beliefs? Why are we clinging to the same concepts that were believed 2000 years ago?

Would you allow a physician to operate on you if he were using the same methods that were used 2000 years ago?

Would you want an educator to teach your daughter that the world is flat and if she travels too far she could fall off?

I think you get my point.

Why the hell are we still hanging on to ridiculous, extremely outdated myths regarding religion and God, when we have evolved in so many other areas?

Here's the coup de gras: we pay billions annually to churches, across the globe, to keep telling us about "God" and these absolutely ludicrous, antiquated, Roman stories about Jesus, Allah, Virgin Mary, Joseph, Revelations, talking donkeys (Numbers 22-28), walking on water, and so much more ersatz balderdash.
